Learning to Swim online?

The more and more research, I do on line, the more swimming tuitourials are popping up. Are swimming teachers, trainers and coaching going to be exinct soon. Are we really going to be necessary?

Some are very good and of course some are rubbish but it does pose the question. Can a parent really teach their babies or children to swim online? Tell me what you think?

Of course, I host a valueable resorce shop and have an online membership for swimming professional and of course there are webinars also available but actually teaching our practical skills through this medium.? Hmm

You are already an educator, so why not learn how to present to other swimming professionals, It's easy by understanding and employing a simply strategy called the 4-Mat model, you can design and deliver a engaging training or presentations.  It doesn't matter how short or long the presentation is or how technical or boring your topic .

Here are the reasons to give it a go !

Does the thought of presenting to your peers scare you? Do you know your stuff but freeze in front of an audience? Do you find yourself rambling even with a script?

The 4-Mat model is the perfect way to push past your fears and get out of your comfort zone. I am always a little annoyed when I go to "international ...

As swimming instructors, our whole philosophy depends on children and parent being in positive learning states. When babies are happy (even adults) their brain produces endorphins, which are also essential for self esteem and a healthy immune system. Laughter is the body's opponent of stress.

Babies, who exercise when in the water, often are more resistant to common colds & flu's. They often are tired after swimming and fall asleep after sessions.

It is important to note that infant aquatic classes are initially not learning to swim lessons. Babies will not learn to swim immediately, however will learn to be more relaxed in the water, enjoy the experience, all the developmental benefits & even the bonding ...

By implementing a regular feedback processes properly, it may seem little time-consuming  for a swimming teacher. Yet it can be very rewarding and even accelerate your progress and success with your students.

In fact, I venture to say many swimming instructors today; simply don't bother, therefore just by establishing and acting on a feedback from a customer, you have already established a point of difference from others immediately. I remember quite clearly organising a picnic in the park for my parents. My objective was to find out if they were happy with the quality of lessons.

All it cost me was my time, as the parents brought there own picnic's, chairs and blankets. I just had settled on the ...

Do you actively follow up complaints?

Verbally or formally! OK, in the bigger aquatic centres and swim schools, often there is a person in charge of complaints, however, I have always felt, it's important as a professional swim teacher to be directly involved with complaints and their procedures. It shows a deeper commitment to your customers.

I remember once being in a swim school manager's office, where the manager would not go out on pool deck because he was so firightened of getting complaints from certain customers. He would wait until the peak was over. This is a terrrible way of conducting your business. These customers could help you the most.

Personally, I  love following up a ...

So what is customer feedback and do you take personal responsibility for it?

At our swim schools, we saw feedback as complaints or compliments on our products and services. All our swimming instructors came to understand, it is a very necessary open communication and where ever possible, we welcomed it from our patrons and bosses.

Organizing regular opportunities for feedback from your swimming patrons is a great way to deepen existing relationships with your customers. You may be quite amazed by the insights and snapshots of your customers. As their perceptions, can be quite different to yours..... Why a swimming professional doesn't need a "Sense of Humor" to implement laughter?

People believe that in order to laugh one must possess a good sense of humor. In reality, a sense of humor is the brain's capacity to perceive, relate, and experience a situation, judging, if the situation is funny or not. In other words a sense of humor is required for conditional laughter. No one is born with a sense of humor.

In fact, a child's ability to tell jokes is hopeless, they often start laughing before the punch line. Children don't laugh because they have a sense of humor, they laugh because it is in their nature to be joyful. Sadly as we get older, we acquire judgmental skills, as our ...

Why Laughter in your Swimming classes?Swimming is Fun at Giggles

Initiating more opportunities for laughter in your sessions, relaxes students, helps build rapport and trust. It is the opposite of stress.

A professional swimming teacher doesn't have to be a comedian or tell jokes, but only has the courage to become more child like, open up and let go.

Laughter even fake laughter is infectious and through laughter, students and parents can be lead into different desired learning states.

One minute of laughter is equivalent to a 30 minute workout for your body so by adding just a few laughter components into your swimming sessions you could improve your student's overall health and well being.

Even in a structured swimming program, skillful professional swimming instructors should be guiding children to open up and learn through different mediums. The power of laughter can give children the ability to explore experiences and express themselves freely.

Each and every child is born with a superabundant creative potential for laughter, fun, play, happiness and love.

It is part of the natural conditioning of a child to look for laughter, to create fun, to indulge in play and to spread happiness, radiate and receive love. Play is a wonderful tool to developing skills, talents, confidence and self esteem particularly in the water. By including fun and laughter into your swimming program, you are able to blend ...
